Pain Management is the art and science of preventing and relieving pain by now generally accepted methods. Although primarily considered as a distinct medical specialty practiced by those with post-graduate training in Anesthesia or those with qualifying degrees such as the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery)Pain Management can also be practised by non-medical licensed professionals such as Physiotherapists and Podiatrists under the supervision of an Anaesthetist or a Medical Doctor familiar with Pain Management who will be legally responsible for any medical and surgical procedures they may undertake
